School Wellbeing Characters ::: Warragamba Public School

Introducing the new school wellbeing characters of Warragamba Public School.

Warragamba Public School approached me to help them design a set of wellbeing characters that would support the implementation of their new teaching initiatives. These characters, inspired by the five basic needs—freedom, fun, love and belonging, power, and survival—and represented through local native animals, are set to play a vital role in enhancing the learning experience. With a focus on visible learning and a growth mindset, the characters are intended to be powerful tools that help students understand their learning processes while fostering continuous improvement and achievement.

The introduction of these characters aligns perfectly with the recent 3C Consultancy staff training the school has undertaken in the five basic needs. This training has equipped educators with insights into the workings of the brain and how these influence behavioural choices. By exploring Glasser’s Five Basic Needs, staff members have developed a deeper understanding of why individuals may behave in particular ways. The characters will be instrumental in helping teachers implement these teachings, enabling students to become more autonomous in managing their own behaviour and supporting a nurturing educational environment.
